Man robs North Texas Whataburger with large knife after card payment didn’t work, police say

Fort Worth police said the man placed an order and attempted to pay with several cards that were all declined.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man seen on video robbing a Whataburger with a large knife, officials said.

The Fort Worth Police Department said officers responded at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 28 to the Texas-based fast food chain, located in the 4000 block of E. Lancaster Avenue for a robbery call.




The suspect, seen on surveillance video released by police, placed an order and attempted to pay with several different cards, but they were declined, police said. The man then stepped away from the from the counter and returned with a large knife in his hand, police said.

Police said the employees at became frightened and could be seen moving away from the front counter to create a safe distance between themselves and the suspect. Video showed the man with the knife in his hand and hitting the counter.

The man then stepped behind the counter, grabbed a bag of food and left, the video showed.
