Sheriff: After a car crashes into the Bishopville Dollar Tree during a quarrel, adults and teenagers are accused.




Sheriff: Adults, teens charged after car crashes into store during fight at Bishopville Dollar Tree

BISHOPVILLE, S.C. (WIS) – Multiple people are facing charges after what authorities described as a violent altercation at a Bishopville store over the weekend.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said a dispute involving two adults and three juveniles began in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree on Sumter Highway.

During the fight, the sheriff’s office said a 17-year-old hit a 15-year-old with a vehicle before crashing into the store. The car then reportedly rolled away from the store and crashed into another vehicle in the parking lot, which was occupied at the time.

The 15-year-old who was hit by the car was not seriously hurt.

Deputies said 19-year-old Celvin Hickman and 24-year-old Shamirah Blyther, 24 were each arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the brawl. Hickman was also charged with malicious injury to property.

In addition to Hickman and Blyther, the sheriff’s office said three juveniles were arrested.

Among them was a 17-year-old accused of driving the car that crashed into the store, who’s charged with attempted murder, disorderly conduct and malicious injury to property. Authorities said the 17-year-old will be charged as an adult.

Another 15-year-old was also charged with disorderly conduct. They and the other juvenile were released to their guardians.

They were taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
